The title of this blog refers to the weather we had last week that, of course, did not last. I knew it was too good to hope that Spring had arrived in mid-February! Penny got to meet some more of her relatives last weekend--Josh's Aunt Charlene and Cousin David were in the area to check out a college and got to meet her Friday night. Then Saturday, Kathy hosted a jewelry party that included Grandma Sivey and Cousin Amanda. They all enjoyed holding her and she was very pleasant (ended up sleeping most of the time!). Nora also enjoyed the jewelry party. Here's a cute story: So Nora, of course, brought her own jewelry to the party--she rarely leaves home without it. But the moment she saw all the nice jewelry, the *real* thing, she took off all of hers and started grabbing for the pretty things! She was sad when she couldn't wear them--I didn't want to have to buy them if she broke them!--but not too sad because she could play with Owen and Amanda! We ended up spending most of the day at the Sauder's. On Sunday, we went to church and had a nice, normal night at home. Well, Josh was home for dinner, bathtime, and bedtime while I got to get out on my own to shop at Kohl's and Meijer--thank you, Josh!!
This week we've stayed in--only going out for church! Thankfully the weather was not as nice as last week because Miss. Nora wanted to learn how to go potty on the toilet. She's been wearing her Dora pants, and getting M & Ms--one for staying dry (I ask her every 20 minutes or so) and 2 for going on the toilet. She's been okay with telling us she has to go but has also had 1-2 accidents every day. I hope she's getting the hang of it but she's still in diapers for sleeping and going out. I can tell she's really proud of herself!
Penny is now 7 weeks old! The nights haven't been going so well this week. It may be a growth spurt but she's only going about 3 hours at night between feedings and also waking more often than that. A few nights this week Josh has taken over the first feeding of the night--1 or 2am--with a bottle for Penny. That is so nice! Today we decided to start Cry It Out with Penny. Nora was much younger when she got the hang of it but I was a little afraid to start it with Penny because she gets *really* upset when she cries. She cried for 20 minutes or so with her afternoon nap, about 10 minutes around dinner time, and not much at all for bedtime. Here's hoping she gets it quickly and our nights start going better too!
That's all for this week...thank you for reading about our ordinary blessings!
