So, today would have marked my Grandma Mitchell's 82nd birthday. I know how much she would've loved being a great-grandma to Nora and her soon-to-arrive little sis! We miss you, Grams!
It's been 2 weeks since I've blogged. And alot has happened. Two weekends ago (almost) Josh and I got to get away for a baby-moon. We headed to Indianapolis on Saturday morning after dropping Nora off for the weekend with Josh's parents. We had a nice relaxing time--shopping, having dinner, and going to the movie theater. It was nice staying in a hotel and only being the two of us for awhile again. We came back on Sunday afternoon, finished up some painting projects, then had pizza with the Sauder's while we watched football :) Thanksgiving lasted a whole week--at least for Nora and I. We watched the Affholter kids on Monday before heading to Jackson after our baby appointment on Tuesday morning. Meredith had just arrived in Jackson and it was so nice to be able to spend 5 days together! We had lots of fun with Nora--going to the Toy House was a highlight. And Meredith got to feel baby Nikki moving alot! On Thanksgiving day we headed up to Flint for the special meal with Aunt Kim, Uncle Mark, dad, and Josh joined us too--it was also his 31st birthday. We had a nice relaxing day eating, watching tv, and making birthday invitations for Nora's 2nd birthday. We spent the night and had a lazy morning before Meredith, Nora, and I headed back to Jackson to pick out a Christmas tree with the Maynard's. It was so cold that we chickened out and bought a pre-cut one at the tree farm. We had friends over to watch the tree be put in its place then we watched White Christmas. Nora and I headed home to Grabill Saturday morning but just for an hour--enough to have lunch--before driving to Ohio for our second Thanksgiving--this time with Kathy's family. We had 23 people there and some great food. Then we had a gift swap game and a surprise baby shower for us and the Klea's :) Got lots of diapers!! We spent the night there and went to church with the Sivey's in the morning before heading for home. That night we Sauder's got together to celebrate Josh's birthday. It was a full 2 weeks so it's been nice to be home again. But it was great to be able to travel to see family before we're home for the holidays because Nikki is going to be born SOON! If she's like her big sis, she'll be arriving in exactly 4 weeks--not that I expect her to come on her due date too. Nora has been fun lately--she's talking more but still can't understand most of it. It's so neat to see how much she understands--and follows directions--when she wants to!
We're thankful this year for all of you--our family and friends. We thank God for our health, for Nora, and the new blessing that will be joining our family soon. We can't wait to meet her!!
